Sophia Aloysius, who goes by Fia, was born and raised in Bethel, Alaska. She holds a Master of Education degree in Reading Specialist from the University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). Fia began her teaching career in St. Mary’s, where she taught 2nd grade from 2006 to 2011. She later served as an intermediate interventionist at Ayaprun Elitnaurviat from 2014 to 2015, and then taught 2nd grade at Mikelnguut Elitnaurviat from 2015 to 2023. In addition to her work in education, Fia has volunteered with the Boys and Girls Club and the Camai Festival. She has also contributed to her local tribe, working in both housing and human resources. Fia is excited to begin her journey into adult education with SERRC Alaska. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, spending time outdoors with her family while subsisting off the land, and yuraq.
