SERRC welcomes Julie Staley as new Executive Director

Julie Staley has been selected as the new executive director of SERRC – Alaska’s Educational Resource Center following a nationwide search.

Staley will lead Alaska’s only educational service agency, serving adults, students, teachers, families, schools and school districts across the state, from Metlakatla to Utqiagvik.

Staley previously served as the agency’s associate director and has been with the agency since 1992. She has worked in education and administration since 1978, beginning her career in Australia.

SERRC’s board of directors contracted with the Association of Educational Service Agencies to conduct the search, with a hiring panel consisting of board members and staff.

“We are so excited to have Julie Staley as our Executive Director,” said Dr. Roy Getchell, Haines School District Superintendent and 2021-22 SERRC Board Chair, “Her knowledge in the field and commitment to education gives us confidence that SERRC will continue its mission of supporting Alaska’s children by delivering exemplary services and programs throughout our great state.”

SERRC was formed in 1976 and celebrates its 45th anniversary in 2021. SERRC’s services include providing business and technology services to districts, professional development, special education and related services, facilities management, federal programs grant management, direct student services and much more.
