Leslie has been in the field of education for over 35 years, serving students in both Alaska and Colorado since 1988. Having grown up in Juneau, she has a depth of knowledge and understanding of Alaska stretching back to the early years of statehood. She holds lifetime Alaska licenses in both Special Education and School Counseling and is returning to SERRC, after a two year absence, to serve as School Safety Specialist on the AK Safe grant. Leslie originated this role during a previous version of the grant in school year 2022-23 and is excited to revive the partnerships under new grant funding. Leslie has worked as an educator in both urban and rural Alaska, but primarily in Juneau since 2007. Now retired from working directly with students, Leslie will actively engage with a variety of school districts to enhance school safety initiatives state-wide. She has been married to Matt for 34 years, and they have two grown sons and six young grandchildren, all residing in Alaska. Fun facts: Leslie tap dances with a Juneau dance group and once owned a small ranch in Colorado raising Rocky Mountain Elk!
