Career Connections

Here’s your opportunity to job shadow at a real job in a field of interest or to become aware of training and careers in high-growth industries. During your week-long session we will also explore higher education options, career exploration and learn job-seeking skills. Objectives and activities are aligned with Alaska Content Standards.

Sessions 1 and 3:  Career Connections for 9th – 12th graders is focused on career awareness. Session speakers and field trips are based on Alaska’s high growth industries.  Students use on-line tools and group activities to focus on career exploration, job-seeking and job-keeping skills.

Sessions 2 and 4: Career Connections for 11th – 12th graders emphasizes job shadowing for students who are comfortable in the adult workplace.  Part of the week is spent job shadowing in a field of interest. Session speakers and field trips may be based on the high growth emphasis of the session and career interest of the students. 

Districts pay tuition and travel to and from Juneau, and send one teacher/chaperone for every five students.
