All-Alaska Academy
The All-Alaska Academy (AAA) provides direct student services in a variety of week-long sessions held in Juneau; taught by qualified instructors, and aligned with Alaska content and performance standards. We've listed the session here:
Alaska Close Up & Junior Alaska Close Up
Come to Juneau during the Alaska State Legislative session. Visit the Capitol and work with your Legislators. Practice government in action. Available to students in 7-8th grade (Junior Alaska Close Up) and 9-12th grade (Alaska Close Up).
Government Internship
Get 'hands-on' job-shadowing and work experience within state government as well as career exploration classes and instruction on how to develop job-seeking skills. Open to 11th and 12th grade Alaska Close-Up alumni.
Career Connections
Experience the REAL world of work in the field of your choice and learn valuable skills on how to choose and pursue a career. Available to 11th and 12th grade students.
Transition Camp
Teams of secondary students and educators focus on skills and techniques that assist students to transition from school to work. The camps are aligned with Alaska Content Standards and the Alaska Transition Outcomes Project.
Construction Trades Academy
Two weeks of intensive instruction that prepares students for construction industry careers. (Dependant on grant funding.) Available for rural southeast Alaska Students 18 – 24.
Basics Boot Camp
Intensive math and reading activities, career exploration and decision making, test-taking strategies help students prepare for high school graduation. Available for 9th – 12th graders.
Districts pay tuition and travel to/from Juneau. Tuition of $600 per student and $400 per teacher/chaperone pays for ground transportation, materials, instructions, meals and housing during our session. Sessions begin Monday morning and end Friday afternoon.
